December 7, 2015

OH MAN... Things are getting crazy here in Brantford! I LOVE IT! Sister Arnold and I had the busiest week of our lives and it was the happiest! Right now I'm totally on a spiritual high because we have seen so many miracles lately. This week we were able to go to the temple with a recent convert and a returning member and they did work for their grandparents!! We had an amazing MLC!! And we taught 42 lessons!! BLESSINGS!!

TEMPLE: We've been doing family history with all of our investigators, new converts, and returning members lately and really talking about the importance and significance of the temple. Sister Detlor and Brother McGrath were both so excited to go! And their experiences there were amazing!! They were both glowing in the temple! After Sister Detlor got confirmed for both of her grandparents she told us that she knew they were with her and she could feel that they had accepted the Gospel!

TESTIMONY MEETING: Well they both had amazing experiences so we invited them to bear their testimonies about temples in sacrament meeting. Sister Detlor did and it was so powerful. She was talking about how the world was literally left behind and she entered the temple. And how she was able to have powerful feelings of peace and comfort. She bore her testimony on how real temple work was. She started bawling and was saying how she would always live worthy so she could go there often! I might have shed a couple of tears! The rest of the testimony meeting was so great! We have a member in our ward who is in the temple presidency and he thanked Sister Detlor and encouraged everyone to have a current temple recommend.

SUNDAY: So it started off really well with that and Sunday school was amazing. Then we taught the YW, which was super fun! I LOVE CHURCH!! We were so happy because we had 2 investigators there, 5 recent converts, and 7 returning members! The sacrament meeting room was totally full. YAY! And Sunday got even better because of the Christmas Devotional!! Wow, is was such a good meeting. I loved all the talks and LOVED all of the music!

FRANK AND LORAINE: Frank is an inactive member and his wife is a non-member. Well we dropped by a couple weeks ago and talked to them for a while just to get to know them. Well they said we could come back, so we set up a return appointment and taught them on Friday. They both love Christmas so we did a Christmas lesson and showed, "A Savior is Born." We talked about Christ's birth and his life and invited them to come to the Christmas Devotional. We didn't thing they would come but THEY DID!! :) Frank hasn't been in the church building for A LONG TIME! And Loraine has never been! Man, when they walked in I was freaking out!! They both loved the devotional so that's good! Hopefully they'll come to church soon! :)

FINDING NEW: President Clayton's promise about new investigators is still true. We were at the library with a member and the recent convert we were going to meet with canceled last min. Well our member saw a friend at the library. So we started talking to her. We asked if she had a couple mins where we could share a brief message with her. She said yes, so we taught her. And she wants to learn more! So we found a new investigator in the 20 spare mins we had that day!! MIRACLE!

REVELATION THROUGH PRAYER: President Clayton has encouraged us to pray at night with a paper and pen handy and to make it more of a two way communication. So I was doing that a couple nights ago and had a cool experience. I was praying about a recent convert who is kind of struggling right now. We had planned to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ but while I was praying for them Joseph Smith's experience just kept coming into my mind. As I was thinking about it I realized that this recent convert needs to feel the spirit in the lesson more than anything else! And sharing the first vision with people is always so powerful. So the next day we talked about Joseph Smith and shared the first vision. He got a little emotional and said that he felt the spirit so strong. He was so glad he met with us and on Sunday he came to church for the first time in 12 weeks and stayed for all 3 hours!! Revelation through prayer is real!

SHOPPERS: So this story is kind of awkward... It was Friday night around 8:45. We were headed home but needed to stop at shoppers for some supplies that couldn't wait until Monday. So we're walking towards the check out and this man in a black hoodie runs past us super fast. Then a worker from the pharmacy starts chasing him and telling a worker to call 911!! What the heck, right!? So all of the workers were running around making lots of phone calls and we just stood there. Ha. After things calmed down we bought our stuff but they wouldn't let us leave!  SO then the cops show up. Then the detectives show up and we had to wait there to be questioned. Well we had to call our district leader and tell him we weren't going to be home by 9:30. He asked for specific details so that was awkward but whatever. The detectives questioned us for like 10 mins and took all of our information in case they needed to contact us again about it because we saw the robber!! I apologized that I was spacey and had bad answers for all of the questions... He would questions like what color of eyes do you think he had? "Uh. I'm going to be honest. I HAVE NO IDEA! Sorry I'm spacey and don't really pay attention a lot of the time." Anyways, it was a weird night.

FUNNY QUOTE: We were in ward council and as we were talking about the progress record a member said, "I don't know what shoes the sisters are wearing but they need to buy some Jordans because they are always on the go!" HAHA.

OK family, I love you all! SO MUCH! I hope you're all enjoying the Christmas season! If you haven't shared "A Savior is Born" with a friend who you feel needs it then do it this week! And you won't regret it! :) Missionary work at Christmas time is so PRIME!!

Sister Dayton

Our district! It's kind of hard to see what we wrote but that's OK.

The temple with Sister Detlor and Brother McGrath

Sister Bott and Sister Hillman were at the temple with some members too! It was cool because I trained Sister Bott and Sister Arnold trained Sister Hillman and now they're companions. So cool!!
Sometimes we have to do our weekly planning in our car when we have 35 mins in between appointments. It's hard.
