HELLO!!! How is everyone doing? I hope you all had an awesome July weekend. That's so fun a lot of you were in Utah! PARTY. Remember last year when we were at the reunion? That was a blast!
HOLIDAYS: The 4th of July was weird... Like no one was wearing red, white or blue? And I didn't hear any fireworks? And there was no parade? It's like I wasn't in America or something. JKJK I celebrated Canada Day on the first and it was almost as cool! We had a ward BBQ at the church at it was super successful! So many people came and we were able to set up a lot of appointment with less active members. We went an hour early to help set up and wow, I'm glad we did. Things were a little chaotic. Sister Morgan and I set up a couple of party tents! (I'm glad I had done it before and knew how they went up.) Then we set up chairs and tables. Then when people came we served food for like an hour! It was awesome! We eventually ate the food that was left, ha. And then the ward had a soccer game. It was so cute because all ages were involved! There are so people in the ward who are crazy good, but it was just a chill game.
A CELESTIAL MAN: I think I've wrote about Brother Saunders before. But I'm going to write about him again. We visit with him about once a week and it's one of my highlights! He is the man from Jamaica and he got baptised before black's could have the priesthood. He and his wife used to be in the temple presidency and they've always been very active in the church. He's had a really hard life but he has the strongest testimony ever! His wife got in a car accident about 10 years ago and became mentally handicap but Brother Saunders takes care of her! They aren't able to come now but people take the sacrament to them every week. He always holds hands with his wife and will talk to her even though she won't respond. The love that he has for her is unreal and my eyes always water when he talks about her! Ahhh. We always sing to him and he always cries. He's pretty much amazing and I was the church to do a Mormon message on him! Does Bryce still make those?
NINI: So she is a PSW for Sister Saunders! We met her one time and asked if we could share a message with her. She said yes and we taught her the Restoration at the Saunders home. It was amazing because she respects and knows Brother Saunders well and at the end Brother Saunders just testified that it was true and told Nini how much the Gospel had changed his life. She was excited to learn more and we're so excited to meet with her again! Yahoo for member present lessons!
INVITED INSIDE: We were knocking on doors the other day and a lady answered and said, "hello, come on in!" We looked at each other and smiled! I was thinking, "oh ya! Golden investigator." Then she was like, "let's go upstairs and look at the birds!" We were kind of confused but just followed her. Then she started yelling her grandsons name saying that we had arrived. And then it got real awkward. The grandson walked in and was like, "uh... these aren't my friends..." You all know me... I just started laughing but then it wasn't funny when the grumpy grandson was like, "ladies, we're not interested. You need to leave now." Man, I wish I stopped laughing but I couldn't... Woops.
ROLAND: He's our new investigator that was born in Nigera, lived in France for a while then just moved to Canada. He's super religious and kept telling us, "we need to work together and help people love God." Uh yes, we do! He was a little nervous about the Book of Mormon but said that he would pray and ask God. He was telling us how God talks to him all the time. Perfect! You'll get an answer easy. Ha
RUNNING: I was able to run a mile in 6:39 the other day. I was way happy about it. And super dead when I was done. Ha. I was only able to say "The Living Christ" one and a half times instead of two. Yay! Getting faster! I'm excited to run outside when I get home. Anyone want to run a half with me next summer!?
BOOK OF MORMON: You guys, I love it. Like I LOVE it!!! I just got to Alma and I am obsessed with Alma the Younger and the sons of Mosiah. But it was cool reading about their experience again and when I read Alma 5:46 I thought I learned something new.
"Behold, I say unto you they are made known unto me by the Holy Spirit of God. Behold, I have fasted and prayed many days that I might know these things of myself. And now I do know of myself that they are true; for the Lord God hath made them manifest unto me by his Holy Spirit; and this is the spirit of revelation which is in me."
So he didn't gain his testimony from seeing an Angel!! He was able to gain truth from the Holy Spirit after he acted!! He prayed and fasted for many days and was only then able to gain a testimony. Man, I need to help my investigators understand this because they are all wanting signs! Like, the Book of Mormon isn't enough evidence or something!? Ha I'll work on it.
I love you all and hope you have an awesome week! :)
Sister Dayton
