July 27, 2015

Holy Smokes family, I have lots of stories to tell you! Wow - this week has been crazy!! But I'll give you the transfer news. Drum roll please..... WE ARE BOTH STAYING IN MILTON FOR ANOTHER TRANSFER. I don't know why, but I totally thought I was leaving so I was so surprised and happy at 10:30 last night. I really do love Milton and I love Sister Morgan so I'm happy. Miracles are happening all over the place!

NIAGARA FALLS: Wow - it was a perfect trip. A family from Hamilton ward took us. Sister Morgan was way close to the family when she was in the ward and has been in touch with them ever since. Not sure how it got arranged but it did. Ha. They picked us up and drove us to Niagara! It was about 1:00 and they said they wanted to take us out to lunch. So nice, right? Well I was thinking subway or something cheap but they took us to OUTBACK! I didn't even know that restaurant was here in Canada but man, I was so excited and my meal was delicious! We after lunch we went to the falls. The view was amazing. I could stare at it for like 5 days straight. We took some pictures and walked around for a while. Then we went to Clifton Road. It's a cute touristy street with lots of shops and stuff. The members that took us were wanting to buy us everything. It was so nice! They bought us ice cream, post cards, a magnet, expensive candy and a hard rock cafe shirt!! I felt like a celebrity. We hung out there for a while then we had to drive back to be in our area by 6. The day was pretty much perfect!

IT WAS AN INTERESTING NIGHT: We had an appointment with our friend Steve. We had a member with us but started getting nervous when we were calling and he wasn't answering his phone to let us in the apartment building. The good news is people came out of the building so we were able to just  walk right in and went to Steve's door. We knocked and it was opened but not by Steve... Sister Morgan started walking away, but I was thinking, this is the right house maybe it's Steve's roommate? So I asked and he started laughing and told us how he knew Steve. Earlier that day Steve was looking for some money so he could buy some alcohol and Kim was looking for a place to stay for the night. So they met each other and made the exchange. While Kim is explaining this I notice Steve in the back. He was  TOTALLY PASSED OUT! BAHAHA and in the most uncomfortable position EVER. So Kim is this homeless guy who was staying with Steve and he was just there cleaning his kitchen. It was the weirdest thing. And I'm so glad we had a member with us :) So we start talking to Kim, right? And he starts telling us his life story. It was actually pretty interesting. He is this super smart guy to had an unfortunate event at work and just gave up... But he's been way low lately. On Sunday he was wanting to commit suicide but he prayed to God and asked what the purpose of life was. Well a couple days later he met us! And it was cool, he recognised it as an answer to his prayers! We taught him prayer and the plan of salvation briefly. He's awesome. The only tricky thing is - he doesn't have a phone or a house. So hopefully we'll run into him on the streets or something.

TESTIMONY OF PRAYER: A couple days ago we had a really cool experience with our investigator Eileen. We've met with her and her family the last couple weeks and their faith is growing. Eileen texted us a couple days ago and said there was a problem at work and asked us to pray for her in her situation. We said yes and invited her to say a kneeling prayer and exercise her faith. She went into the ladies room and said a knelling prayer and a little while later she texted us and said, "The miracles of Jesus Christ never fail to amaze me. We got what we requested! Thank you very much for your prayers." It was just an amazing moment because Eileen and both of us were able to grow a stronger testimony on the power of prayer. That night we taught the family and invited Eileen to share her experience with her kids. She testified to her kids and it was so powerful. Such a great way to start the lesson. We taught about baptism and invited them to be baptised. Not going to lie, I was so nervous to ask because I had no idea what they would say and I really don't want them to push us away. But we had faith and invited them. And they said YES. Wow - we were so excited. The two kids and the parents have read every reading assignment we've left and they're progressing really well. It's so great.

CONFERENCE: So I've read all of the conference talks from April and wow - they're all amazing. I think my favourite talk is, "Stay by the Tree" that's by Elder Pearson. SO GOOD! I loved these quotes in the talk, "Casual obedience and lukewarm commitment weaken faith. Enduring to the end requires total commitment to the Savior and to our covenants." AND "Our daily discipleship will determine our eternal destiny." AHHHH I love them!

Life is good and I'm excited to see what happens this week. Hope everything is going well with all of you! Love you!

Sister Dayton
