Family! Wow - it is so good to read all of your e-mails and letters. Thank you all for taking the time to write me. BEST FAMILY EVER! So many exciting things are happening and I think I smile the whole time I'm at the library reading about how you're all doing. This week has been awesome! Really hot, that's for sure. It hit like 32 degrees Celsius but then you add the humidity and wow - it equals two sweaty missionaries! :) But that's OK! Sister Morgan and I are loving Milton and having a blast here!
CAUGHT IN THE ACT: On Tuesday we did service for Sister Mah (this older lady in the ward) and when we were about to leave her husband walked in and surprised us with pizza! So nice of them, right? Well we ate some even though we were about to go to a dinner appointment. An hour later we're at the Galletly's house eating dinner and the phone rings. Sister Galletly answered it and came back in the room and said, "that was Sister Mah, she's coming over right now to visit teach me!" Ah man, I started feeling uncomfy! The good news is, we were just finishing up our message so we left before Sister Mah came over and saw us eating a second meal. They probably figured it out, but I'm glad I wasn't there for that.
ANA IS BAPTIZED: Remember Ana from the Toronto YSA. Well she e-mailed me and she was baptized this last week. AHHH! I taught her almost every week while I was there so we got super close! I'm so happy for her!!! Other exciting news - Densel got his patriarchal blessing, goes to the temple to do baptisms all the time, and is a ward missionary and goes out with the missionaries all the time! So exciting!
GIFTS FOR DAYZ: I'm not sure what happened this week but everyone and their dog was giving us gifts. It kind of felt like my birthday. Steve gave us a lot of Canada stuff... a flag and hand towels and shirts. Not sure why. Galletley's gave us a huge bouquet of roses, because they love us! Eileen gave us no show socks because she saw them at the store and thought of us! Luca gave a key chains from his Florida trip because we gave him candy and talks to read before he left, Rebecca Choi gave us earrings from China because we did service for her, a cute 11 year old in our ward made us a comic book because we always laugh. HAHA. Anyways, I was feeling the love this week, that's for sure. People are the best.
HASSAN: When we met with Hassan last week, we talked about Jesus Christ and the atonement. We invited him to read Alma 7 and pray about it. On Sunday we were teaching him and asked him what stood out to him from the readings and he went on and on!! He totally understood and remembered the whole chapter. Later on in the lesson we said something and he referred back to one of the verses in the chapter. "It talks about that in this verse..." AHHH It was happy! He was born Muslim but feels like he is coming close to Jesus Christ and believes he suffered for all of us. PROGRESSION!
JW's ALL DAY EVERYDAY: Not sure why, but Milton is full of Jehovah's Witnesses. We see them on the streets all the time! They have three congregations in Milton alone... We don't even have one! AHH Anyways, the other day we knocked on a door and a Jehovah's Witness answered. He was way excited to talk to us because he wanted to prove how awful we were. He asked what our churches perspective on war was (even though he knew). We told him about the 12th article of faith and said we do what we need to to protect our family and freedom. Well he went on to say that Mormons end up fighting Mormons and asked us if God was pleased with us killing our brothers. ARG. I wanted to say, "so maybe you don't kill people, but you don't save them either!!" Because they don't believe in blood transfusion. But I didn't because I'm a missionary so we thanked him for being so friendly and said we needed to go.
EILEEN AND CO: Yes, they're still amazing! Yes, they still do the reading we assign them to do. Yes, the spirit was there during the lesson and they recognized it! Seriously, I feel so blessed to be teaching them. They're all progressing really well. They believe in the Book of Mormon and they want to be baptized! The only tricky thing is getting them to come to church. They haven't been once. This next week we need to focus on the importance of coming to church! Hopefully, they'll want to come and when they come it will be an amazing experience!
TEMPLE WORK: So I was reading D&C 128 the other day and I loved vs. 15, "And now, my dearly beloved brethren and sisters, let me assure you that these are principles in relation to the dead and the living that cannot be lightly passed over, as pertaining to our salvation. For their salvation is necessary and essential to our salvation, as Paul says concerning the fathers—that they without us cannot be made perfect—neither can we without our dead be made perfect." SO COOL! I was thinking about what would happen if we didn't do work for the dead... We would only go through the temple 1 time! That's is. God is brilliant and has established a perfect way for us to receive more blessings while we are blessing others. I love the temple and I'm so grateful we have the opportunity to do work for the dead in the temple! I get to go in a couple of weeks and I'm SO EXCITED!
CONVENTION: So this is interesting. We are teaching Fahart right now who is a Muslim. She's loves us and kept on telling us about this religious convention that she was going to. She said it was a lot of religions coming together and listening respectfully to each other about their beliefs. She invited us to come and to speak for a little while! She also told us we could bring Book of Mormons and pamphlet to pass out after the speeches. Holy smokes - we were PUMPED!!! So the next time we went she gave us official invitations and told us that she had talked to the organizer to put our names on the list. So everything was looking good. But then we saw that it was our of our area, so we called our district leader for permission. Well the zone leaders called us and asked if we got permission to speak at the convention... Uh, we had no idea we needed to. So anyways, President Clayton calls us and asked us more about the situation. We told him everything and gave him the website to the convention so he could see and understand more of what it is. So he called us back and said it's more of a Muslim Celebration... So right now, we probably won't be going. I think it's a little different than what Fahart was describing! We'll see what happens.
STRANGE: The other day I got asked if I was from Portugal. That's all.
Well playas - I LOVE YOU LOTS! Can't wait to see you all in like 6.5 months!
Sister Dayton
Another missionary killed! Our zone leader, Elder Sherman is gone!!
We had a crazy storm on Sunday... It was like hail.
