YOU GUYS IT'S GETTING WARM AND I'M SO EXCITED ABOUT IT! Like today I didn't have my coat on!!! WHAT? And I'm not wearing tights :) The best. It's like 15C. Not sure what that is in F. But it's nice! Anyways, we're going to the CN Tower today! Well probably not up it but we'll go close and get lots of pictures because that's what we do! Anyways, this week was pretty great! I'll write about some of my highlights!
CHOCOLATE: We were walking around last night and talking to everyone. You know, just doing what we do everyday. But we started talking to this Muslim man and he was being SO NICE! Like, telling us how much he respects us for giving up so much! He said we were beautiful because we were serving God. So he already made our nights but then he pulled out two chocolate bars and gave them to us! He said he always has chocolate to give to the neighborhood kids. So cute, right? Anyways, he was so nice and I'm so glad God put him in our path!
BEING ACCUSED OF LYING: It happened twice in one day. Not cool. We were talking to this man in the lobby of our apartment building and he was like, "you came home at11:30 last night. That's not allowed." Uh.... First of all, we didn't. Second of all, you're not in charge of us! Anyways we told him we didn't and then he said that liars go to hell. It was annoying. Later on that day I was on the subway talking to this man is an atheist. He asked me if we respect other religions. And I was like, "yes! I love hearing about people's religious backgrounds. As missionaries we share messages with people and invite them to develop stronger faith in Jesus Christ." Then he freaked out and was like, "if you respected religious you wouldn't be going around trying to persuade people to believe what you believe." And you guys, he was totally yelling at me. On the subway. It was awkward and I didn't know what to say back. I think I was just like, "bye." And left. haha it was weird.
SANJAY IS GOLDEN: On Friday we had an appointment with him at 6. Well he called at 4:30 and asked if he could just come straight from work even thought he'd be early. It was perfect because we were getting fed at the church at 5, so we said yes! Well he showed up before 5. We had to wait outside for like 10 minutes because there weren't any females in the church. Anyways, we all had dinner together then we taught the Restoration to Sanjay with Tony. It was awesome because Sanjay and Tony are both form India and they made two random connections. They'll be best friends soon. Anyways, Tony is a convert and his testimony is unreal. Sanjay totally felt the Spirit when Tony was testifying and it was the best! The lesson ended and we invited him to stay for institute that started at 8. He stayed! He just hung out with other YSA's and loved the institute class. He was at the church for over 4 hours! HA He's killin it!
GETTING SCARED ON THE STREET: So this one time we were walking home and it was super dark and windy outside. A little bit creepy. Anyways, SOMEONE GRABBED MY RIGHT ARM! I totally gasped and my heart was beating so fast! Well, it was our investigator Deep. He said he wasn't trying to scare us but he totally freaked me out. I didn't even hear anyone behind us then out of no where someone grabbed my arm. Yeah... I told him next time he should say hello or something instead.
WAY TOO MANY LESSONS CANCELED: It's finals week. I get that students are busy. But there is something that I don't get. They schedule appointments then last minutes cancel because they don't have time. Guess how many times this happened to us??? I'll give you a hint. It's more than 10. yeah.... It happened to us 11 times this last week. WE HAD 11 LESSONS SCHEDULED WITH INVESTIGATORS THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN. So it was a rough week for sure. But most finals will be over on Wednesday and we get our investigators back! YAHOO!
CREEPER OF THE WEEK: Hmmmm. This story isn't as cool as the last couple but yesterday we ran into a scanner. He was old and creepy. And he asked me if I was hungry and offered to feed me. But the whole time he just kept looking up and down... It made me feel super uncomfortable. I also had this black guy call me "baby girl" like 4 times in a contact. I'm stupid and thought it was funny so I totally started laughing. He was like, "it's OK baby girl, I say it to all the pretty ladies." uhhh that still doesn't make it OK but whatever.
ELEVATOR ISSUES: Remember how the Elders live on the 5th floor and we live on the PH (18th floor)? The other night after sports we were all going up and when they got out of the elevator they started laughing so hard. When the door closed I noticed that all of the floor buttons had been pushed. Ha! It took us a while to get up to our floor. But it was funny!
AWKWARD STORY: On Saturday, Henry called us. He told us that we had met him at Seneca college a couple weeks ago and that he wanted to come to church with us tomorrow! WHAT THE HECK! YES, COME!!! He texted us 30 mins before Sacrament meeting was going to start and told us he was here. We were so excited. So we went downstairs and couldn't find him. We only saw people from the family ward. Then Henry comes up to us and he's totally old. Like not a YSA. AHHHHHH We totally assumed that he was and didn't even think to ask. Pretty much everyone we talk to at Seneca is YSA. Well I guess everyone except Henry. So I was thinking he should go to the last hour of the family ward and Sister Herfort was thinking he should still come with us. So it was awkward and we didn't know what to tell him. We ended up giving him a church tour and talking about our purpose as missionaries then we introduced him to the Elders in the family ward and Henry went to Priesthood with him. So it was a good lesson. We can't assume everyone is YSA.
BEST SURPRISE EVER: Ana is crazy stressed about her finals in accounting and she canceled both of our scheduled lessons this past week. She also told us she wouldn't be coming to church. We we so sad about it because we knew her baptismal date would need to be pushed back! Well on Sunday Brooken and Ana walked into church together. WHAT? We had asked Brooken to invite her to church earlier that week but assumed Ana let him know she wasn't coming! Well they bused it together and I was so happy to see them walk in! Member missionary work is the best! Apparently Ana could say no to us but not to Brooken! She told us afterwards she wanted to surprise us. So cute!
Well that's a lot so I should stop. But I love you all lots and hope everything is going well. I think and pray about you EVERYDAY!
Love you!
Sister Dayton
OH! This member in our branch. Jimmy gave these to me as a birthday present! I was thrilled. I killed 7 cockroaches the other day. Not cool. But it was so nice of him
I had an umbrella that didn't so squat. Sister Herfort hates umbrellas. Strange.
