You guys, it's warm outside!! Like the sun is out and I'm sooo happy! It's supposed to be like 8 in a couple days! That's out of the negatives! YAHOO! The snow will all melt and we will be walking in puddles for days but that's OK!
EMBARRASSING STORY: Oh man, just thinking about it makes me feel so uncomfortable. So we had a lesson with our investigator Karen a couple days ago. Karen is pretty much perfect. She is the store owner of Club Monaco. I guess it's a super expensive clothing store. She's the prettiest person. Her name is Karen Trinh. Look her up, I'm sure she has a bomb instagram! Anyways, we met up with her and I started saying the opening prayer. For some reason I couldn't think of her name, it was the weirdest thing. So I thought I should look in my planner while we were praying so I could remember her name. I tried to flip open my planner and I didn't realize I had a pen on it. So that fell down and I tried to stop it but then my whole planner fell off the counter and I still didn't remember her name. It was awkward! But funny too!
CREEPER OF THE WEEK: K this guy is at the top of the list! I met him on a subway and we talked for about 20 mins. He was super friendly and seemed normal. I got his number but he texted us first. I'll just type up some of them...
"You wanna come to my place later and have some fun? I have a bible at my house. We can have a study session ;)"
"Let's have a good time: you, me, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John." HA OK that made me laugh but he's dumb.
The next text was beyond inappropriate so I won't type it up. But it's the dirtiest thing I've ever read!! SO NASTY! Anyways, we just didn't respond. He apologized later so that's good but we won't contact him!
FIRDAVS: So yeah, he's an ESL student and he LOVES me. It's funny but awkward. He's from Tajikistan and his wife and kiddos still live there. For some reason he thinks he is single in Canada... He's been meeting with the family ward missionaries and he wants to meet with us and come to our YSA branch. We explained it all to him and he was like, "well I'm single now!" Um... NO!! Anyways, after the Elders taught him the first couple lessons he did some research online and he saw some stuff about polygamy. Instead of being relieved that it's no longer in practice he was disappointing! WHAT? He was like, "too bad that ended a while ago." At the end of ESL one day he came up and asked me for my e-mail address. I'm grateful for the while handbook. :)
REJECTIONS EVERYDAY: So as a missionary we get rejected all the time. At first it was super hard for me but I'm totally used to it now. And I just feel bad for them. We had three appointments on Saturday and that morning all canceled! It was annoying but kind of funny.
"I am sorry I have to defer out meeting once again. I just don't feel right waking up."
"Hey sisters, I'm feeling unwell today again. Lingering effects. Can we reschedule."
"Today actually isn't the best."
DUMB.
This next rejection text is kind of funny. We met Eric on the street and chatted for a second. We texted and invited him to come to church, this was his response
"Hi there! Sorry I forgot your name. I'm totally down for getting together, share a (whatever you guys have instead of beer) and talk about God and spirituality, but I don't want to go to church. Thanks for the invitation."
I loved it. So bold!!
Marcello: Our cool investigator from Brazil. He speaks pretty good English but we passed him off to the Portuguese speaking missionaries and it was awesome! The spirit was so strong even though we didn't understand anything. He loved the missionaries and had a blast talking in his own language! He went and played soccer with them later and he'll get baptized soon. We're excited. Our mission is super cool and has the most languages spoken by missionaries! And Toronto is the only place where in the world with Farsi speaking missionaries are. HOLLA!
ZONE COUNCIL: On Friday we had our first zone meeting. It was weird not being with the Weston zone but the Ossington zone is also amazing! Our zone leaders are such strong missionaries. I look up to them so much and our meeting was so inspiring. We talked about the Godhead and the importance of helping our investigators understand their roles. The Claytons showed up and added a lot of amazing comments. We did role plays and I normally hate them but these were so helpful. Sister Clayton watched our role play and complimented our teaching. She said, "most of the other companionship weren't able to get through all of the information but you just taught simply and powerfully. And I felt the spirit so strong because you sister were so sincere." It was so nice! And it made us feel so good!
DEEP: Our investigator from India. We taught him Wednesday night and he loves learning more! He did the reading assignment that we left him :) That never happens! He stayed for sports and so many of the members talked to him and he loved it there! He works on Sundays so that's hard but hopefully he'll quit his job or something! Ha
OK well I love you all a lot and hope you're having a great week!! Thanks for being the best of the best! I really do have the coolest family eva!
