Hello Family!! So life is good in the Toronto YSA Branch. I'm getting to know and love the members. And I love my area. We are downtown all the time and it's the best! I love Dundas Square. It's kind of like time square in New York! And it's warming up!! It's been like -3 the last couple of days! Yahoo! Anyways....
CREEPER OF THE WEEK: So this week I have 2. The first one is Ben, I only know his full name because he texted and told us to add him on FB. So if any of you want to stalk him and see what we go through, feel free :) But anyways, we met him in an elevator and we just started talking. When we got to the main floor he stopped us and kept asking questions. We didn't have an appointment so we asked if we could share a message with him right then. He works at the apartment building and had a room downstairs that we went in, don't worry - we left the door open! But anyways, he was totally normal at first but then he asked Sister Herfort to take a picture of him and me. And then he asked me for my FB name, and e-mail and phone number. We just gave him our card and explained the phone was OURS. But anyways, he came early to church on Sunday so we could do a pass off lesson. He's like 50 so wouldn't fit in at the YSA ward. Ha But when he found out we weren't staying he got ticked and left! BAHA he was like, "I came to church to see you. And if you're not staying, neither am I." OK cool, see you never! The other is pita man. We went to a pita restaurant and it was super yummy! But anyways, the worker was like, "I can't look at you as a Sister because then we couldn't date." Oh he also winked at me, gross right? Uh... Can you please just make me my pita so I can leave! Ha it was awkward.
COOL INVESTIGATORS: We're teaching a man name Bereket that's from Ethiopia. His name and background already makes him cool but he gets even more cool. He's a professional soccer player! He was on the under 20 team in Ethiopia. Look him up! Ha But the best part is, he's interested in our messages which is the coolest of all! He really does have a desire to come closer to God and is super open! Our other cool investigator is named Ben. He's from China and has long hair. Picture the evil guy on Mulan but he's nice, and not huge so... never mind. But anyways, he is Asian. AND he's amazing at piano! Like AMAZING! We asked him to play a hymn during sacrament meeting and he said yes!! Can't wait! He's super smart and always asks bomb questions during our lessons. It's the best!
NEW INVESTIGATORS: On Thursday we were so blessed and we found 2 new investigators. They're both pretty great and I'm excited to keep teaching them. Janelle was our first. She was a referral from other missionaries. We met with her at a pizza place with a member and we stayed over an hour. She just opened up to us and told us her life story. So a couple years ago her fiance was murdered!!! The people that did it were laughing at court and they sounds awful. So she's having a really hard time right now finding peace in her life. But I'm so glad she walked up to the other missionaries and we met her. I know the Gospel can help her! It's exactly what she needs right now. Our other new is Deep. He's from India and is Hindu. We had an appointment at the church and he called us 15 mins early and told us he was there! We rushed over but didn't see him? We tried calling him and he wasn't answering. Ten minuets later we found him at the Family History center! He was just talking to one of the consultants! The consultant is a convert and was telling Deep his story! It was perfect! Well we taught Restoration and at the end invited him to be baptized. He was like, "If I get baptized I might not be accepted by my family and my friends wouldn't let me into their home so I need to think about it." He said it so casually it was almost funny, but he's pretty cool!
DISTRICT LEADER: Remember when I told you about a missionary that's here from Hong Kong? We were in the Hong Kong temple on the same day and Lee met him? Well anyways, he's my district leader! And he's so awesome! I also tell other missionaries our cool story but he doesn't think it's that cool. But it is! He always says things and will start laughing so hard, I never understand him but I always end up laughing because he's laughing and it's contagious.
Well I love you a lot and hope everything is going well! Thanks for all of your support!
Sister Dayton
