November 24, 2014

Oh man, mission life just keeps getting better and better. This last week was a blast!!! I LOVE MY NEW COMPANION! Her name is Sister Bott and she's from Idaho. She is so much fun but also super focused on missionary work. We actually have the same name and her birthday is on April 15th. We were dying when we found out. Anyways, I feel like I have learned so much from her!! And this week has been so successful! We had four investigators at church! Yahoo! New record. And we were able to teach 17 lessons and have three new investigators. We were blessed soooo much.

NICOLAS: AH man, he's one of our new investigators and I'm so excited to continue teaching him. His wife and his two daughters are recent converts, who are all awesome. We go to their house every Monday night for FHE and it's always a blast. Last week was the Primary Program so we called and invited him to come and watch two of his kids present. He came to church for the first time in like five months and it was so great to see him there sitting with his family. On Thursday we went over to teach Samantha and when we were about to leave Nicolas walked in from work. We started talking then I asked him if we could share a little message with him. He said YES! So we sat down and just taught about the Book of Mormon. Sister Bott and I shared our testimonies and then Samantha shared her testimony and it was so powerful! Oh man, he was definitely feeling the Spirit and said he would meet with us again!

JILL: She's so solid! This Sunday she totally beat us to church! We walked in with some investigators about 15 minutes early and she was already in the sacrament meeting room sitting on the front row. Like I'm so obsessed with her! She loves the gospel so much and has seriously become a new person. I'm so blessed that I was able to see that change in her. The gospel seriously blesses lives so much, it's crazy. She participates in Sunday School and Relief Society all the time! Its adorable. The other day she told me, "I never thought I could be so happy! Thank you for being patient and not giving up on me. I'll remember you forever." Well I totally started tearing up because these days I'm a crying all the time. Anyways Jill is doing great!

BIG BLACK SEAN: A couple weeks ago I started talking to this man and he sounded interested so I gave him our card and got his phone number. We called him a couple days later and left a message but he never got back to us. When we take down a number it's helpful if we write down notes so we can remember who they are. In his I wrote big and black, which honestly isn't too helpful... But anyways on Friday we were waiting at a bus stop and I saw someone who was coming up. I looked up and he recognized us and said hello! He was big and black so I asked if his name was Sean. AND IT WAS! HAHA Well he asked us if we had dinner and we were actually headed home to eat but he offered to buy a pizza! After we said, "you're so sweet, but that's OK." a couple times and he kept insisting to buy us a pizza we said yes. I was excited because we could talk about the gospel over dinner. We walked into the restaurant and he paid for our pizza but then just WALKED OUT! What? We thought he would eat with us! Oh gosh, I was baffled. Like, what just happened... The good news is we had his number and we called him a bomb THANK YOU message on his voicemail. He hasn't called us back, but wasn't that so nice? There are a couple people in Weston who are just so super awesome.

KAYCIE: Shoot I think he's part of a gang. Maybe like a leader... He has crazy swag. Anyways, he loves God a lot so after talking to him for a long time on the street we set up an appointment. We were able to get a member to come along so that was awesome but in the lesson he kept on talking about how all of his friends were super bad but he was the good one in the crew who always preached about God. Awesome. He also is hilarious and I feel like whenever he's talking he's rapping. He said "yo" like 100 times. And he has a little dance that goes with it. He uses his hands, arms and body when he talks more than I do. And he has this head nod that he always does. Ah man, it's the best. He said he would come to church but didn't show up. I hope we can meet with him again. I feel like if he got baptized he would be such a strong member!!!

CREEPER OF THE WEEK: The other day we were walking around in a neighborhood and this Asian man was shoveling his sidewalk. We stopped and asked him if he needed any help. He didn't understand English very well but kept on nodding his head. So we thought he was wanting help but then he wasn't handing over his shovel, he just kept smiling at us. I was awkward and confused so just gave him a Mormon.org card and told him he could call us if he had any questions. Then he said, "My wife won't be home at 12. I call you then." Uhhhhh we think there is a slight chance he thought we were prostitutes... Hopefully not.

FREEZING: So it's a little on the freezing side already. I'M GOING TO DIE IN JANUARY. On Wednesday it was -18 with wind... We were outside for two hours and I thought I was going to die. Utah winters are nothing.

CHRISTMAS: I'm so glad I will be spending Christmas with Sister Bott. We are getting way too excited and making so many plans. We want to go caroling to people, and memorize the living Christ. And we pulled out a baby Christmas tree, lights and a nativity last night and they make me so happy. I love Christmas and I can't wait for this year. It will be so nice to be so focused on the real purpose of Christmas. Missionary work will seriously be so exciting in December! YAHOO!

SPIRITUAL: President Clayton often responds to my e-mail and last week he gave me a scripture to look up. D&C 88:84 "And whoso receiveth you, there I will be also, for I will gobefore your face. I will be on your right hand and on your left, and my Spirit shall be in your hearts, and mine angels round about you, to bear you up." Ah man, I needed to hear that. President Clayton is amazing. He really is so in tune with the spirit. And isn't that scripture just so good. It's so comforting to know that we are not alone in this work.

LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!
 Sister Bott
