December 1, 2014

Shoot, life is seriously sooo super good! Sister Bott and I are having a blast! Like we laugh ALL the time. But don't worry. We are still way focused on our work and we are seeing miracles all the time. It's literally the best!

CRAZY ITALIAN MAN: We saw a man on the street and just asked how he was. For the next 10 minutes he was telling us how the biggest criminals are part of the government, how he was super rich but then a black man stole his millions, how only black people get into drugs, how was shouldn't teach or sleep with black men. I tried to stop him like 20 times but finally decided it wasn't worth it. When he finally gave us a chance to speak I told him that the message we share is for EVERYONE because it brings happiness and God loves all his children and wants us all to be happy but oh man, he did not agree with me. Super strange.

BIBLE BASH SESH: OK it wasn't really a bible bash session because we didn't even pull out our bibles. BUT a lady wanted to talk to us just to talk badly about our religion. IT WAS CRAZY. Like, maybe the scariest lesson I've taught. Our investigator Ali texted us and said he has a friend who has some questions for us. We were so excited to meet with both of them. We love referrals! But as soon as she suggested we go to a coffee shop and she offered to buy us some we knew she was well prepared to argue. She had spent so much time looking at anti stuff and knew about the word of wisdom. She was talking about the Restoration and was telling us that "God is schizophrenic" because he didn't bring back the gospel until the 1800's. And then she was telling us that we are young and didn't know anything. And told us we were following Satan. And then she was telling us that because of the atonement she has power to heal by touching people. (I wanted to ask her why she is sitting at a coffee shop? Go get to work.) It lasted about 20 minutes and by the end my face was red and my hands were shaking. I wanted to reach across the table and pull her hair out. But I just smiled and nodded, trying to be polite. My favorite part was at the end when she was telling us that she has a friend who did her thesis on Mormonaism so knows everything! She asked us if we wanted to meet with her and Sister Bott was like, "Nope." HAHAHA I was like, "If she has questions and would be willing to listen we would love to talk to her. There are so many websites online that have false information about our religion and we love it when people come to the right recourses to find information. But is she wants to meet with us to argue we would rather spend our time doing something else." Anyways she was so condescending and so negative. I'm not sure if we will meet with Ali again and I'm so sad because he had a couple of amazing experiences.

DENZEL: We had a lesson cancel in his building so we randomly dropped by and he was soooo drunk. It was awful. I wanted to cry! But he has been reading everyday and has come to church two times so that's good. He really does have a desire to change but it's so hard for him to actually ACT. We'll re-teach word of wisdom on Tuesday.

ZYRA: We have a less-active family who has been in our ward boundaries for one year. They moved from the Philippines. She got online and requested a missionary visit. They are in our area so we went over and introduced ourselves. We set up a time to come back and share a message with them. I told Bishop about them and he wanted to come and meet them too, so he came to our lesson last Thursday. HE IS THE BEST. He is Pilipino so they clicked instantly which is awesome! They have a girl Zyra who is turning 9 in a couple weeks. She is the cutest thing and has never been baptized. She is now our investigator! I'm so excited to teach a little girl! I'm a little nervous though... Like how do we teach her law of chastity and stuff...
MIRACLES: We have a family of investigators that just moved into our area! Ah man, we are so excited! The mother, son and daughter all have baptisimal dates for December 21st. They met with other missionaries a couple times and went to church once. We are going over on Tuesday to meet and teach them, but we've talked on the phone a couple times and they sounds so adorable. The mom's name is Dee. And the kids are Kendra (18) Mario (8) and Noah (2 months). I love teaching families!

PASSMORES: They took us to this bomb restaurant on Friday. It was so delicious and SO EXPENSIVE. They picked us up in their super nice car and we drove to a nicer area and it was way weird. We were out of our hood for a little bit and I felt like I was in a different city. It was so fun to talk to them and hear about their missions are going. Sister Passmore made us this delicious dessert and brought it to us on Sunday. So nice, right,? I LOVE THEM!

K Playas, I got to go because WE'RE GOING DOWNTOWN TODAY! We got permission from the assistants so it's all good! We are going to China Town and the CN Tower and hopefully we can see the lake :) Haha I'm loving life and I hope you are all as happy as I am!

LOVE YOU!

Sister Dayton
