September 29, 2014

Man, I have some new stories for you! The weeks are seriously going by faster and faster. I can't believe it's almost October and that my first transfer is almost over. I think that means I'm about 1/13 done, weird!

Banana Man: So I'm at the bus stop eating a banana. A super old man was waiting so I started talking to him. He kept on staring at my banana and finally asked, "is that a good banana?" I told him that it was a pretty good one. And he was like, "yeah, I can tell." I asked him if he wanted it and he said yes, so I gave it to him. At this point I'm thinking I have an automatic in so I asked him if he's ever met missionaries before and he ignored me and walked away. I was ticked.

Maybe I smile too much: We were on the bus headed home from a lesson and the lesson had gone really well so I was happy. I was sitting across from this lady who was drunk so I didn't start talking to her but I smiled at her and she was like, "wipe that dumb smile off your face!" HAHA I should have just stopped smiling but that comment totally made me laugh!! The poor lady was so bugged by me, so that was bad. WOOPS.

Jamaican on my lap: I think this is my favorite story of all!! Like I'm laughing right now thinking back on it!! So this bigger lady came on the bus and when she was crouching down to sit in the seat next to me the bus started and she lost her balance and totally fell on me. And not just a little, like her whole body weight was on my legs. And she screamed so everyone looked over. Not going to lie, it hurt but it was the funniest thing. She was so embarrassed and moved to the back of the bus and I'm the worst and couldn't stop laughing about it. Like I couldn't even stop smiling about it!

Warm KFC for linger longer: A couple of Sundays ago we had linger longer after church. I was helping the relief society ladies get all the food out and a man in our ward that's super active walked in with 2 KFC bags from across the street. And everyone was all excited! "Yay, the chicken is here!" Like it was a normal thing! It was strange. Remember how that happens in the movie Singles Ward? Well it also happens in the Weston ward.

Man casting out Devils: We were walking around in a sketchy part of Toronto and this crazy guy comes up and starts talking to us. First of all that never happens. We always approach people. He was being so friendly but then started preaching to us, telling us that he was a prophet and goes around casting devils out of people. He told me that I had lots of devils and he could see them in my eyes so he started yelling at me to cast them out. I couldn't understand what he was saying but he did spit on my like twice because he was yelling so that was gross.

Brampton 2x in a Day: Brampton is about an hour away, and it's the best. The temple is there, the stake center is there, the mission home is there and it's clean, so I love it. On Saturday I was able to go to Brampton twice and it was the best! We went to the temple in the morning! (We get to go the week before conference if we are within an hour away from it, we barely made the cut.) We were in the 7:00 AM session so had to wake up at 4:30! But that's OK! I loved it. And that night was the Relief Society Broadcast and we were allowed to attend. The dinner was at 6 and the broadcast started at 8, so we didn't get home till about 10:45. But the Broadcast was amazing! Wow, it kind of made me miss Utah but it was cool to see sister gather from far away to come watch it at the stake center. I loved the clip of the Korean children singing, "I love to see the temple." It was the sweetest thing, and my eyes were watery. Being on the mission has made me realize how obsessed with kids I am. I hate that I can't hold the babies in the ward.

Jill: She is still doing awesome. She is close to being all the way off of coffee. YAHOO! She wants to be baptized but is so nervous about it because she is terrified of water! Picture me when I was younger but a lot worse. Anyways, she hurt her foot and ribs so feels like she needs time to recover before the baptism. We are just praying she will be physically and spiritually ready by October 12th. I think she will be. She really has developed so much faith in Jesus Christ and prays all the time.

Denzel: He's one of our new investigators. He is about 30 years old and wants to change his life around. Perfect, get baptized! We've met with him a couple of times but our last lesson with him was the best! Samantha who is a recent convert came to the lesson with us. It was perfect because she could really relate to him. She was bearing her testimony of how much the gospel of Jesus Christ has helped her in her life and how much happiness it's brought her and her family. The spirit was so strong and he said he wanted that same thing! He has a baptismal date for October 26th! He missed church yesterday because he was fishing but I'm excited to keep meeting with him!

Baptism: Elder Vang and Elder McKennon have been working with a family for this whole transfer and on Sunday they were baptized :) We brought Jill and she loved it and really felt the Spirit so that was good! The 3 companionship's in the ward sang "When I am Baptized." I almost started laughing when Elder Wiratma came in during the girls section but I was able to hold it back. Elder McKennon played and isn't super good but I didn't want to be the only girl singing and neither did my companion and he was willing to play so it worked out. It ended up sounding good and it was fun to prepare for.

I really feel so blessed. So many good things have happened this week! I hope you are all doing well and know that I miss you!!
