You
guys, I'm like 1/13th done! I just completed my first transfer. Everyone says
the first one is by far the longest so I'm guessing the rest of my mission will
fly by! Right!?
6 WEEK FOLLOW UP: On
Friday morning all of the new missionaries and their companions went to
Brampton for a follow up. We were all supposed to prepare a 5 min talk and I
was selected to give mine. I got way nervous so that's dumb. But I feel like
I'm always being picked on! President only picked like 3 missionaries out of
35, and I was one of them. Anyways it was so fun to see my MTC friends. Elder
Call is learning Farsi so that's crazy!! And all of my sister friends are
loving their companions so that was nice to hear. We drove up with Elder Vang
and McKennin and Sister Davis and Herfert. The drive up was way fun and we got
there very early but that's OK.
HONG KONG TEMPLE:
Remember that one time when I was in Hong Kong and Lee told me that there was a
missionary in his session that had his call to Toronto? Well I've been looking
for that missionary ever since. When I meet Asian Elders I ask if they are from
Hong Kong and how long they've been out. When one Elder said he's from Hong
Kong and that he'd been out for a couple months I was like, "NO WAY! We
were in the Hong Kong temple on the same day!" Well he didn't understand
me and looked like he was scared of me so that's nice! And it turned out that
it wasn't even him! HAHAHA But I did find that missionary at the 6 week follow
up training. His name is Elder Woo! And he speaks English better and thought it
was cool so it all worked out!!
COUSIN ON THE MISSION:
Apparently I have a cousin serving in Toronto! At the follow up meeting Sister
Reeves said someone in her district has been looking and wanting to meet me
because we are related!? And the worst part was she couldn't remember the
Elders name! HA I was so confused for like 2 days trying to figure out who it
could be. Then I remembered when I went to Mitch Henderson's homecoming I met
his Aunt that said her son was in Toronto. I think we're related to Henderson's
so that has to be it, right!? But I can't wait to meet my cousin out here! ha
I HATE RULES: So
remember the Jardins that I wrote about like 3 weeks ago!? They are both old
but so in love and it was adorable. Well Sister Jardin died and I'm so sad for
Brother Jardin! We had been over twice and loved our time there! They gave us
ice cream and lotions so that was nice! But I saw Brother Jardin on Sunday and
wanted to give him a hug so badly!! He was crying and just shook my hand and
looked at me for a long time. I felt so cold! And I can't even write him a
letter, it kills me!! And we can't go over and visit him! AHHH! And we couldn't
go to the funeral! Anyways I'm so sad for him!
I THINK I'M GETTING A
HEART: We went to visit a less active lady in our ward named Hahn. She's been
in the ward for about a year and hasn't been to church for the last couple of
months. We visited her on Wednesday and she told us her story. She is married
and has one child who is in college. Her husband got in an accident a couple
years ago and injured his neck. His body is now completely disabled! She was
telling us how he told her to stop taking care of him so she could become
successful in life. She doesn't live with him anymore but they talk on the
phone almost every day. Anyways she was telling us how hard it was and started
crying and my eyes totally got watery! Ah man, I felt soooo sad for her!
SCARY MAN: Yes, there
are always more! I guess I haven't met them all. He was way drunk when we saw
him on the street and really wanted to talk with us. He was asking us very
strange questions like, "Do you have a boyfriend?" "Are you a
virgin!?" And "Not saying I did, but if I did murder someone could I
still be a member of your church!?" The whole time he was just talking to
me and completely ignoring my companion. He was gross and I hope he didn't
murder anyone!! Yikes.
CONFERENCE: Ah man, I
love conference! I did get a little homesick! I miss Utah and watching it with
family while we eat lots of bad foods! The talks were all really great and Jill
came to the Sunday morning session and absolutely loved it! She said she felt
the spirit really strong! YAY!
VIKAS: He's one of our
new investigators and he's so awesome! He moved here from India a couple months
ago but has been a Christian for about 5 years. He met missionaries right
before he left India and looked online to find a church in Toronto. He just
showed up at our ward and I'm so glad we went up and talked to him. I was like,
"I'm so sorry, we're still kind of new to the ward and I don't know your
name!" Haha we've met with him a couple times since and he is totally
following his commitments! He's been reading from the Book of Mormon and praying
about it. Yahoo!
BOOK OF MORMON: I
finished it! Yep, it's true. and yep, I love it! I love reading the last two
paragraphs of the introduction with investigators. It's powerful and so
true!
OK I love you all and
miss you lots!
