I can't believe it's
Monday already. This last week flew by super fast. We had a zone conference on
Thursday with President and Sister Clayton and another zone conference on
Saturday where Elder Cardon and his wife came and talked to us. Both were
awesome. All of the sisters in the car ride home were saying how they have
headaches because they were just spiritually overwhelmed. I didn't have a
headache, but did learn a lot. I gave the closing prayer for the conference on
Thursday and I got so nervous, it was dumb. Anyways the week really was pretty
good and I'll write about some highlights.
PEOPLE ARE SNEAKY-So
we talk to people, a lot of people, right? When they sound interested we get
their phone number, address and schedule a time when we can come over and share
more. This last week we got so many fake numbers and addresses! Like why do
people give us a number at all? I would just say, "yeah, not interested.
Thanks anyways." But no, people act interested then make up numbers and
they are super good at it. I would never guess that they were lying. If it
tried to do that, I would start laughing. People are super sneaky here in
Toronto. I've had a couple favorite fakes thought. Anyways, the first is
Samone. I talked to her on the bus and she was so sweet and really seemed like
she wanted to learn more. I was way excited to call her up a couple days after
but was so bugged to hear that the number "Dominos Pizzia, how can I help
you?" OK I actually thought it was hilarious! Then there was Emanuel. He
asked us so many questions and we talked on the street for like 15 mins, I'm
thinking, "awesome, he's a golden investigator." We set up an
appointment at his place for the next day. We tried to call that morning to
confirm but there was not set up voice mail. We got to the apartment and I
pulled out my planner to see which suite it was. 1302. Well the apartment
complex didn't have a 13th floor!!! I guess it's a thing here in Toronto.
HAHAHA I'm such a rookie. I told the other missionaries on Sunday and they were
laughing at me, because if anyone lives on a 13th floor, it's a fake. There
have been others but those were my two favorites!
SAD-Last week we had a
member in our ward that was shot and killed a block away from our apartment. He
was completely inactive and we never met him but we had planned on going over
to his house the next day! We've been trying to get a hold of his family but
they moved out of the ward and the numbers are not working. I guess Toronto is
a little dangerous too! We always walk on Jane and Lawrence and that's were it
happened!
JILL-She's a rockstar.
Jill is so sweet and is progressing! We moved back her baptismal date because
of her injury. She will now get baptized on October 12th. She told us she won't
buy anymore coffee but she hates wasting things so she said she will drink it
until she's runs out. Hopefully she doesn't have very much left. She knows she
will have to be off it completely a week before she's baptized. She always
cries when she talks about the spirit and it's so sweet!
FUNNY DREAM-I wish
this was my story but it's not. I never remember my dreams. Friday night some
of the Elders had a sleepover because they left together for the conference
super early. Elder Steed said that he kept on waking up because Elder Vang was
sleep-talking. One time he said, "I need to get a haircut in this
dispensation." HAHA I don't know why I thought it was so funny, but I
laughed about it for like 15 mins.
CREEPER STORY-Well
some old man who was probably drunk said he loved me the other night so that
was gross. Another guy that seemed normal at the beginning but ended up being
extra slimy was like, "Don't you think you should just come home with me
tonight." EW. I wanted to punch him. We are told to talk to everyone,
everyone needs the gospel. And if I don't talk to creepy men I have no one to
talk to! Man, I keep thinking I've already talked to all the creepers but there
are always more out there. BOOO!
7 JAMAICANS-On Tuesday
night we were walking around and we saw this group of 3 Jamaican ladies just
talking so we went over there and started talking to them. At first things were
going really well and they were being way open and sharing their belief in God.
They started calling over their friends who were outside to join them for
"bible class." Anyways it didn't end well. They started yelling at
each other about their personal beliefs and it got crazy. We gave them all
cards and told them to call us if they had questions for us.
PREACH MY GOSPEL-This
book is awesome! It's so simple and easy to understand and it covers
everything! I learn something new from it everyday. It's an amazing guide. The
other day I read something that I loved. "The attitude you have toward
your mission experience is a reflection of your love toward your Heavenly
Father and His Son and your respect for the priesthood." OK, I love it and
it scares me. There are totally times when I'm grumpy and wish I was eating
Mom's homemade cookies at home with the family. But I'm going to really try to
be better about consistently having a good attitude no matter what situation
I'm in! :)
OK playas, I love you
all like crazy!
