HELLO FAMILY! So you might be wondering what the transfer news is... I'm staying in Brantford but Sister Vance is leaving :( She's being release as a Sister Training Leader and is training a new missionary!! And going to the GTA!! Holla. She's nervous about being in a bus area but she'll kill it! My new compaion is Sister ARNOLD!! I came out with her and have served around her a couple of times. I love her so I'm PUMPED!!!!
WEATHER: Yeah, it's getting a little bit colder, so that's a bummer. But the leaves are still SO PRETTY! I'll send some pictures! I was on exchanges in Cambridge and I guess I said, "Whoa, look at that tree. That's so pretty!" like 50 times because the sisters were like, "do you not have trees where you're from." Ha. I'm grateful that it's stayed warmish so long!
EVERY MEMBER A MISSIONARY: Our recent convert, Jordon, is KILLING IT!! Oh man, he's on fire. He is handing out mormon.org cards and has been stopping people on the streets to invite them to come to church. He has come teaching with us a couple times and bears his testimony and it's just the best. So a couple days ago he felt guided to walk down this street and met Jeff. Well, Jeff is going through a divorce right now and is super hopeless. HE NEEDS THE GOSPEL. Jordan talked about the Gospel to Jeff then called us and left us a voicemail saying that we need to started teaching Jeff. The next day we met with Jeff and Jordan came along. He loved the Restoration and accepted our invitation to be baptized! THEN he came to church yesterday and stayed for all 3 hours! Isn't that so cool!? Well, it gets better! We had a fireside last night and Jordan brought ANOTHER friend, Nicole, who is so excited to learn more and come to church next week. AHHH he's the best example to everyone of sharing the gospel with those around you. I think this will totally strengthen the ward and get them pumped to do missionary work!
CANADIAN THANKSGIVING: A sweet lady in our ward had us over last Monday night for Thanksgiving dinner. The food was delicious and it was fun to be with lots of people. Unfortunately, they didn't have place cards with sweet notes inside for everyone (I thought every family did that) but we did go around and talk about things we're grateful for. OH and earlier that day we had a cool experience. Sister Vance and I were walking on a river trail, picking up leaves, just enjoying our preparation day and we started talking to a mother and daughter from Holland. They were so friendly!! We told the 17 year old about young women's and she was so excited about it! Her mother was saying how she was such a good girl, with high standards but all of her classmates were crazy!! She gave us her number and address so we called her a couple days later to invite her to young women's and she couldn't make it but they are totally potentials! Just another cool experience to be THANKFUL for!
PRIMARY: Sister Vance and I taught Primary yesterday and it was SO FUN! We played jeopardy and the kiddos loved it! We just had two categories: Book of Mormon and Missionary Work! I was surprised with how well they did! At the end of the game they kids all sang, "I Belong to the Church of Jesus Christ." (not sure if that's the actual title) But it was so cute. I love kids - they're so innocent and full of energy! THE BEST.
SAUNDERS: Do you remember Brother and Sister Saunders in Milton? The couple that I'm obsessed with? Well I found out a couple days ago that Sister Saunders passed away. Sister Morgan told her sister training leaders who told me. I was so sad for the rest of the day. I couldn't stop thinking about poor Brother Saunders! He loves his wife so much and has spent the last 10 years putting everything aside to take care of her. I'm happy for Sister Saunders because she's a lot more comfortable where she is now, but it's still so hard! I wrote a letter to Brother Saunders and just bore my testimony of the Plan of Salvation and wrote about what great examples they both were to me. They announced her passing in our sacrament meeting because she had been a temple matron before so my eyes got watery all over again. I'm so grateful I have the knowledge and testimony of the Plan of Salvation! That's for sure.
ASHLEY: She's another solid recent convert in this area. We had a lesson with her and she randomly brought up a concern that she had. It was along the lines of how can I be happy in the Celestial Kingdom if my family won't accept the Gospel? I love them so much and if they're not with me I won't be able to feel complete joy. Such a good question, right? Her boyfriend, who is a member, responded to her and talked about how God knows and loves each of his children and will give everyone an opportunity to accept the Gospel whether it's in this life or in the next life. He started crying and told her that he has felt in the past that her family will one day accept the Gospel. It was powerful. We're going to the temple with her on November 7th and she's bringing all 4 of her grandparents names! It's going to be such a sweet experience! Can't wait.
I seriously am loving my life. I'm so happy I'm on a mission - and in the best mission in the world - with the best President ever - who has the most amazing wife - and I have family and friends who love and write me - and I am sharing the Gospel with everyone! Life just couldn't be better! :)
