January 19, 2015

Wow, we have seen crazy, amazing miracles this week. It's been super awesome!! I don't have too much time today so hopefully I'll get everything in! We are going to Candra's school and she's giving us facials!!!

STANDARDS: We were so blessed this week and reached standards again!!! Normally that doesn't happen after baptisms so we are soooo happy!! It's our third week in a row. We're hoping to reach it ever week this transfer! So far, so good. We are in such an awesome area with people all over the place so I'm terrified to leave and not have success.

I'M TOO COMPETITIVE: At district meeting we decided we would do a challenge to see who could pass out the most Mormon.org cards in four days. We passed out 124 cards and won the challenge! When we texted in the total DL was like "are you sure you counted correctly?"  Sunday night we got a little crazy when we realized we reached standards and we won the competition! We had a little dance party and then said a prayer :)

DePeza Bars: So there is this missionary in the Spanish ward who is a super good cook. He makes these yummy bars and the first time we ate them we kind of freaked out, so the next week he brought us a whole batch! We were stoked and ate them embarrassingly fast. So we give him back his container. The next week he makes us another batch!! HAHA so we ate it and returned the container to him. The next week HE MADE US A THIRD BATCH! Like is he trying to get us fat? That was the third week in a row. We'll of course we ate them but we might not give the container back quite yet. He's so sweet, and the bars are delicious, but we are going to get HUGE! Anyways, I thought that was funny.

CREEPER OF THE WEEK: We got a text one morning that said, "I woke up thinking about our appointment that I missed." We had no idea who it was so I was looking through all of my planners and couldn't find it until I looked through my first transfer. We had an appointment with him and he just didn't show up and wasn't responding to our calls or anything so we gave up. But in my notes by his name I put "winked at me, and it was gross." HA And the next text he sent said, "I believe God has someone for me to meet." We passed him to the Elders :)

FREEZING RAIN: The other night Sister Bott and I were walking towards the bus stop and I took a step onto the sidewalk and it was pretty much ice, so I totally slipped and lost my balance and the worst part is I totally pushed Sister Bott. I did warn her about it. I told her I would take her down if I fell. Neither of us fell but we were struggling to get our balance and we looked ridiculous. Our bus was coming so we were trying to run on ice. I was laughing so hard and I wish I had a video of how funny we looked.

DJdomdom: We have a DJ in our ward who is super awesome! He's from Italy and has slicked back hair. He always wears some bling bling and is pretty confident, it's hilarious. But we've got to know him pretty well and he trusted us enough to give us a referral! YAHOO! He gave us his DJ friend Dominic's number. We set up an appointment and Dominic asked if he could bring HIS DJ friend along. um YES!!! So we met with Dominic and his friend Lucky on Thursday night. The lesson went pretty well and Lucky had some bomb questions. We brought the Elders Quorum President with us who answered some tricky questions perfectly. We learned a lot from him! Anyways, they both came to church on Sunday!! And Lucky had read from the Book of Mormon!! We were stoked! They both have leather jackets and are just super funny. I can't wait to send you pics of them!! They invited us to one of their gigs... Uh I WISH! Oh also we showed Dominic and Lucky a picture of President Monson and Dominic was like, "Luie definetly wants to be a prophet, he copied this guys hair." Oh my, I couldn't stop laughing because it's TRUE! They totally have the same hair!

A FRIENDLY SMILE IS ALWAYS IN STYLE: Sunday morning was the happiest. We decided to walk to church which is a little over a mile away and almost every person that we saw and offered a Mormon.org card took it and they were all so nice. It was weird. We stopped and talked to this one man who was ADORABLE. He was so sweet and introduced himself to us. That never happens, we're always the first to do that. And after we talked to him for a little he was like, "I'm really glad you stopped and talked to me. It's good to know that here are good people out there. Keep smiling to everyone." It made us so happy. We don't get postive feedback from people on the street very often so it was so refreshing. We got his number and we'll hopefully meet him this week.

Dee, Candra, and Mario: Their confirmation was amazing!! Well it didn't start out perfectly. We were distracted by the DJ's and so we didn't even notice that they hadn't showed up until the opening prayer. Once we realized we were freaking out. We texted Dee to ask if she was close and she wasn't responding. Bishop got up and announced it... So that was awkward when he looked at us and we told him we didn't know where they were. They walked in after the sacrament meeting and Mario had a dress shirt and dress pants. It was adorable. But they did the blessings after the sacrament. We took notes and their blessings were so sweet! Each member of the Bishopric said a blessing. In Kendra's he said something about prepared to enter into the temple and go on a full time mission. YAHOO! We went last night and talked about their blessings and it was so sweet! They were all saying how great they felt. Especially Dee.

ELDER OAKS: Oh my goodness, the highlight of my week!! Saturday was amazing!!! Elder Oaks was 4 hours late but when he came he was just so energetic and positive. He talked to the missionaries about being a full time, full purpose concentrated missionary. "It's a privileged you're here, make the most of it." Oh man, I loved that! I don't want to leave Canada with regrets of not trying my hardest so that gave me lots of motivation. It was powerful. He also talked about how we aren't on OUR mission we our on the LORDS mission. He also talked about how we need to help people become converted to the GOSPEL not to the CHURCH.Just everything he said was perfect and exactly what I needed to hear. We all got to shake his hand and he told us that one time when he was in Argentina and he shook so many missionaries hands that he got blisters!! The apostles are amazing and I have so much love and respect for them. In the afternoon he had a meeting with recent converts and investigators. Dee, Candra, and Mario missed the bus that the church rented to go to Brampton so they weren't there :( But we Denzel was there and he LOVED IT.

Denzel said he will never forget his experience there because Elder Oaks spoke directly to him. He talked about being surrounded by people who will help you achieve your righteous goals rather than people who will drag you down. Denzel has been meeting more people in the ward and is now BFF's with Brother Felix. Awesome! But Denzel has noticed the difference when he hangs out with people in the church and so he's going to do it even more!

BRAMPTON: It was so fun to be in Brampton with most of the missionaries in our missions. I loved seeing MTC friends and hearing how much they've changed. It was so fun to see people that have served in Weston and have left.

Anyways, I seriously loved this week so much. I love you all like crazy and hope you're doing well! I typed this up pretty fast and I'm not going to proof read it so sorry if it doesn't make sense!

Love, Sister Dayton

I CHOPPED MY HAIR!!! It was bugging me one day, so yeah. It was terrifying because most of the hair salons here are for black people... It's not the best cut but I'll work around it.

OBSESSED WITH THE VIEW. Every morning it's different and so pretty!!
