HELLO!!
FHE: There is a family in our ward and all
of them are recent converts or investigators and I LOVE THEM. The Mom
and the two daughters are baptized and the dad and brother are
investigators. They are so awesome and I can't wait for the day when
they go to the temple and are sealed forever!! We go to their house
every Monday night for FHE and it's the best. We always share a
scripture story then we do a game or activity. Last Monday we shared
Samuel the Lamanite, which they loved, then we played pictionary and it
was a blast! There were times when everyone was laughing and it made me
realize the importance of FHE. It really does bring the family close
together and helps strengthen relationships.
Kadisha: She was a mormon.org
referral. Our first meeting with her was on Wednesday and went sooooo
well. We met at the church, gave her a church tour, then taught her the
first lesson in the chapel. She felt the spirit so strong and was crying
the whole time! Like went through 7 tissues! She asked us if we could
meet with her again! What, that never happens. Anyways after the lesson
we were so happy!! We realized the Lord had really prepared her to meet
with missionaries and accept our message. She was planning on coming to
church on Sunday and we had another appointment set up. At this point
I'm thinking, wow, she will be one who is baptized in 3 weeks. The next
morning she texted us and thanked us for meeting with her but informed
us she would no longer be meeting with us because he Mom didn't want her
to. My companion started crying and I was super grumpy for the rest of
the day. Satan is the worst.
BERNICE: She's an
investigator who loves us, but not because of our message. Just because
we do service for her. We dropped her but our last visit with her was
super weird. While we were doing her dished she asked me if I could rub
lotion on her back. Um NO. We left when the dishes were done and haven't
been back.
JILL: She came to church this
Sunday and met with the Bishop so that's good! The sisters in the ward
have been so great in welcoming her into the ward! She is excited to be
baptized on the 15th!! I wanted to take a picture with her but forgot...
Maybe this next week I'll remember. But she's about 58 and is sooo
short. Like 4:3. Ha JK She's like 5:10.
SUNDAY:
Our testimony meeting was amazing! Like the best Sacrament meeting yet!
People here have crazy trials!! One lady from Iran was telling us how
people over there are physically persecuted when they stand up for their
belief in Jesus Christ. We are so lucky to have religious freedom!! One
of the Elder's investigators went up and thanked everyone for being so
nice. He shared his story about how his Mom is in stage 4 breast cancer
and is going to die in a couple months. He's 16 and is practically
living on his own. Anyways he's amazing and is getting baptized in a
couple of weeks! Sister Crandall and I taught Relief Society on Sunday.
We were asked on Saturday night so it was a little last minute but it
actually went really well. The lesson was on visiting teaching which is a
little awkward because only 10 people accepted assignments from the
President. Hopefully the lesson motivated them to accept an assignment.
The sisters really participated and shared a lot of amazing experiences.
Next week we are teaching Sunday school! Haha We've taught something or
given a talk almost every week, I swear! We had a baptism in the ward
after church!! Two boys that are 9 and 12! Their parents got baptized a
couple weeks ago and the Dad baptized them so it was so cool!! President
and Sister Clayton showed up which made all the missionaries super
nervous but it was so fun to see them! They really do care so much about
all of our investigators we are working with. They go teaching with
missionaries and attend lots of district meetings! I'm a huge fan!
1510: Well our apartment is pretty sketchy. And the people are a little crazy. They like playing loud Jamaican music until 3 AM
and just partying all night long. Anyways the other morning I woke up
by loud banging on a door and men yelling, "1510 OPEN UP THE DOOR. STICK
YOUR HANDS UP." Anyways they didn't open the door and the cops kicked
the door down! What? I thought that only happened in movies!? I guess
not. I'll send the picture of the door.
SHAUNA:
Well she's still around. Like here, in the library! HAHA She just came
up to me and talked to me about her process in opening a "colored hang
out spot." Pretty much it's a bar for black people. Cool.
MOOSE
ROAST: So the Elders got a moose roast from their landlord... I don't
even know why or how that happened but they don't know how to cook it
and my companion offered that we cook it then bring it to sports for all
of us to eat it. I think she assumed I know how to cook meet because I
always make lunch and dinner but I DON'T KNOW HOW! We guessed and cooked
it this morning but when we pulled it out we noticed HAIR ALL OVER THE
MEAT!!!! Sick, I'm not eating any of it!
PASSMORES:
Betsy's parents are senior missionaries in our ward! It's so fun to see
them each week! They are so great!! On Sunday I was talking with them
and then the Claytons came up and joined the conversation. The Passmores
were telling the Claytons how much I gave up with dance to come on a
mission and how much their daughter and son-in-law love me so that was
nice! I got a picture with them that I'll attach.
I'm
excited for this week because we have skill and interviews with
President and Sister Clayton! YAY! And on Thursday we have an exchange
with the Sister training leaders so that will be a blast!
Sorry I don't have any crazy creeper stories this week! But you're all still the best!
