I made it! I'm in the MTC and it's been almost 2 days.
Everyone says that if I make it to Sunday, I'll make it through my mission, so
I'm close. Saying bye was so hard! Hugging the twins and C$... The good news is
I started crying!! I really do miss everyone, but they keep us very busy here
so we get really distracted which is great! Wow, so much has happened. It seems
like I've been here for way longer than two days.
It's been so fun meeting so many people and hearing their backgrounds. Everyone is so young. I swear all of the Elders just graduated from High School and the Sisters just had one year of college before they came. It's weird. I've always felt like I was the young one in groups but not this time. Yesterday I was talking to this Elder and he found out I went to Provo High. He asked me what year I graduated and after I told him he was like, "oh I don't know anyone that old that went to Provo High." Oh, OK cool!
We had gym time yesterday and we were playing basketball speed. Some Elders wanted to join our game. I ended up winning! I mean I got way lucky towards the end! This one sister was like, "did you play basketball in high school?" HAHAHA
I love my teachers. We are in the classroom a lot!! But they are very interactive and we do activities often so that's good. I have learned so much from them. They ask a lot of questions and we always have to be prepared to answer because they just call on us, they never ask for volunteers. The first day we talked about some of our goals we want to work on in the MTC. I decided that the two that I want to focus on are being able to reference specific scriptures better and recognizing the spirit. I have never been good at that but we pray like 30 times a day and so hopefully I'll get better. Joseph Smith said, "It is vain for anyone to minister without revelation." I definitely need to work on that!!
In class today we talked about gaining knowledge for ourselves before we can teach it. Elder Holland once said, "You must be your first convert. Everything in the conversion process must happen to you before it happens to anyone else." I've been thinking about this so much! I feel like I really need to solidify my testimony before I go around and I invite people to try to gain one. Love you all!
