November 16, 2015

So... I'm a little weird and want to fill up my missionary journal exactly. I don't want to have blank pages at the end and I don't want to have 2 journals. So this morning I did that math. The good news is I figured out if I write a half a page each night I'll fill it up perfectly. The bad news is, I found out how many days I have left and it's only 100!!!!! But man, I'm going to make the last 2.5 transfers the BEST! This week has been another busy, awesome week! We are seriously so blessed to have amazing investigators, new converts, and returning members who are willing to meet with us! We were able to teach 30 lessons this week! It was awesome!!

FIRE ALARM: Remember how it went off last week? Well... it went off again but this time it was during our companionship prayer. HA. Once again we left and were outside for about 30 mins. It's so weird how everyone in the building stays inside. People would come out on their balcony and just walk back in and NOT come downstairs. So we were again the only obedient ones. We had 5 fire trucks but it wasn't anything serious again.

CARSON FAMILY: We've been meeting with Sister Carson, who is a returning member, for a few weeks now. This last week her husband randomly died! He wasn't a member but really liked us and actually made us dinner a couple weeks ago. We were so shocked and sad for Sister Carson!! She actually wanted me to sing "Amazing Grace" with her grandson at the memorial but then another granddaughter came last min and she did it. I was glad, because it was a lot more meaningful that way! This has been such a hard time for Sister Carson but it's really motivated her to become active again! She wants to work towards going to the temple and also get her husbands work done so they can be sealed! She came to church yesterday for the first time in 4 years! And her grandson who is now an investigator came! Trials are so hard but I'm grateful that they come because it's an opportunity for us to remember that we NEED Christ and His Gospel in our life.

CHURCH: Oh man, it was the happiest! We had 3 investigators, 2 potential investigators, and lots of new converts and returning members. Younga and Justin are YSA's that own a super hipster cafe and we've been meeting with Younga for a while now. We made a deal with them that we would do service at their restaurant on Saturday if they would come to church on Sunday. Well it worked and Younga LOVE IT. They both stayed for all 3 hours and they are planning on coming back next week. BLESSINGS! Johnthon was there for the first time! He's Sister Carsons grandson. He's so prepared and we had amazing lessons with him this last week but unfortunately he moved to New Brunswick. He had some really good questions about the Apostasy so we gave him a copy of "Our Search for Happiness" and committed him to read the pages we marked! He wants to meet with missionaries in his area so we're passing off his information today! Nikki was our other investigator who came! This was her third time coming in a row. She's still smoking but has cut back A TON! So that's awesome. She's so sweet and loves coming to church and meeting with us.

SKILLS AND INTERVIEWS: I always love being around President and Sister Clayton. Their instructions are so powerful and man, the Spirit is always with them!! I also feel so much love from them. They know all of their missionaries and they care about how our areas are but also how WE are. I first had an interview with Sister Clayton. She's the sweetest! We had a lovely but brief conversation about my area. She gave some awesome advice about what we can do to better partner with all the members of the ward council! :) Then I met with President Clayton. He's so inspired and talked about things I totally needed to hear! At the end he told me that he is so grateful for me and my example and he trusts me 100%. Man, it was the nicest. The whole meeting was awesome.

There were so many other great things I want to write about but don't have time to write in detail  so I'll just give you some exciting events happening this week:
-Elder Perkins is coming!!! We have a mission tour meeting with 3 zones on Wed. I get to play piano for that meeting! I'm super excited.
-We have a MLC with Elder Perkins on Friday!!
-On Sunday we have the Montreal Temple dedication!!!

Love you all!

Sister Dayton

See you in 100 days!

Sister Arnold made the sign and I held it up...
