HELLO! So who is pumped for General Conference? AHHH I'm so excited. I loved the General Relief Society meeting - it was SO GOOD! And yeah, I can't wait till next week! I'm so curious about who the new apostles will be too!
BRANTFORD IS COOL: So guess what happened here? THE FIRST TELEPHONE CALL EVER! Look it up. And it's cool for lots of other reasons... lots of cats is not one of them.
JORDAN IS FUNNY: So we taught him the law of tithing and at the end we invited him to keep it. He said, "well duh! I'm not going to get baptized and not keep the commandeers of God." HA. I totally started laughing. He's such a good guy and he's so excited for his baptism next week! He's been coming to all 3 hours of church for the last 5 weeks in a row. He is really close to our ward mission leader, who is awesome, and a lot of other people in the ward so that's good!
REACTIVATION: We've been working with a less active member for the last month and his progress has been so cool to watch! This last Sunday he passed the sacrament and bore his testimony. It was so powerful. He told everyone to not be dumb and fall away but to always do the simple things like (CPR) church, pray, and read. It was awesome. We had another lady who bore her testimony about how bringing less active members back is just as important as bringing non-members in. YES - Work of Salvation! We're inviting all of the members to prayerfully consider someone they could invite to watch General Conference.
EXCHANGES: I went on 3 this last week! I stayed in my area for two and went to London for one. They were all so fun! My first exchange was with Sister Wu and guess what? I've totally met her before!! She's actually from Toronto and is waiting for her visa so she can serve in the Hawaiian Visitor Center, Mandarin Speaking. She was in the Toronto YSA ward and I LOVED HER! I was talking to her the night before she got her mission call and telling her how much she'll love her mission. Well a couple months later we served together! Ha. It was fun to hear how everyone from the YSA ward was doing and to serve with someone who hasn't even gone to the MTC yet. She's so fresh and so full of faith. We had such a great day together!
AWKWARD: You guys, I think I am getting more and more spacey. Like, I don't think before I talk. Well let me just write two situations that have come up from this...
-I went up and talked to a member at church that I hadn't seen before. She had a super cute little girl with her and I asked if she was her grandchild.... It was her daughter. Rookie mistake.
-There is a young couple that recently moved from the Weston ward to the Brampton ward. I was so excited to see them! When I left Weston she was about to have her first baby and when I was them in church I saw her holding her baby! Before Relief Society I started talking to her and said, "I can't believe you're a mom! How old is she now?" Well it's a baby boy... Woops.
SUNDAY SCHOOL: On Saturday night at 10:17 a member texted us and asked if we could teach Gospel Principles. We said yes and looked at the lesson the next morning for a couple of mins and prayer really hard that it would go well. Our prayers were answered! A lot of people participated and I totally learned some new things! I actually really like teaching... it's weird.
KINDA SCARY: We have been meeting with a excommunicated member recently. He is really trying to work towards being baptized again and he's made progress but he's going through a hard time. Yesterday we were reading the Book of Mormon with him and he randomly asked for a priesthood blessing to cast out the Devil inside him. He said a couple years ago a psychic asked him if he wanted eternal life and told him he had to admit that she had to power to give him that. He did and ever since he feels like he's been possessed. We left his house and then he called like 20 mins later saying that he needs the priesthood holders now because it was an emergency! He told us he was suicidal and he was holding a knife. We were able to find two Mel. priesthood holders that went over as fast as they could and they gave him a blessing! Sister Vance and I had another appointment but we couldn't stop thinking about it. Well it ended well, I guess. That happened yesterday and the members that went over said everything was now fine! I'm so grateful for the priesthood and I'm so grateful I've never been possessed by the Devil!
ON THE BRIGHT SIDE: Sister Vance is super awesome. We are still having so much fun together. And I'm still learning a lot from her. Things in Brantford are going really well!
Other happy things:
-Marianna from Milton got baptized last week!! We were teaching her when I left. Ah-I'm so excited for her! She's wanting to go to BYU-Hawaii next year! She's so amazing!!!
-We have MLC this week!! It's where all the zone leaders and sister training leaders meet and are instructed by President and Sister Clayton and the assistants! I'm sooo excited!
Love you all! Enjoy the Cinnamon Rolls this weekend! And don't fall asleep in Conference!
